Sporty’s Introduces PJ2+ Hand-held COM Radio
Sporty’s award winning PJ2 Hand-held COM Radio is now even better. The PJ2+ incorporates customer requested upgrades without sacrificing ease of use or value. Still the only handheld aviation radio that can be connected to standard aviation headset plugs without using a special adapter, the PJ2+ now includes a 3.5mm jack, 6 watts peak transmit power, an automatic noise limiter, and a high contrast backlit screen.
“An emergency is no time to be searching for a headset adapter or a user manual to figure out how to turn your radio on,” says Sporty’s Director of Aviation Products and Marketing Doug Ranly. “Our focus has always been on making simple and reliable radios, and we think we’ve raised the bar with the upgraded PJ2+.”
The new 3.5mm jack accommodates wired earbuds or computer style headsets, making the PJ2+ the perfect radio for walking around an airshow. The transmit power has been raised to 6 watts peak to maximize range, especially important in an emergency situation. A new, high contrast screen features a brighter display and a glare-reducing face, making it easier to read in direct sunlight. Plus, improved contrast allows for a larger viewing angle, making it ideal for mounting in the cockpit.
The PJ2+ comes with an alkaline battery pack, antenna, 100-240v wall plug, USB-A to USB-C power cable, belt clip, and pilot’s guide. The radio can be operated directly from the USB-C plug, with either a cigarette lighter plug or backup battery pack, an easy option for backup power. Headsets with standard twin plugs (PJ-055 and PJ-068) require no adapter; for Lemo/6-pin plug headsets, an adapter [6123A] is available for $39.95. The PJ2+ COM Radio [#6534A] is available for $249 and may be purchased by calling 1-800-SPORTYS or at sportys.com.
