Sporty’s® Crystal Christmas Ornament is an annual tradition for pilots, flight schools, FBOs, and aviation enthusiasts. This year’s ornament, the company’s 30th, features a classic: the Beaver on floats.
Manufactured by de Havilland of Canada as a STOL utility aircraft, the Beaver had its first flight in 1947 and its first delivery the following year. Named after the hard-working beaver, this bush plane was designed to transport both cargo and passengers and to operate on either wheels, floats or skis. Although the Beaver ceased production in 1967, hundreds remain in service in rugged and remote regions.
