Is the paperless cockpit here at last?

Visitors to Sporty’s booth at NBAA next week won’t be buying headsets or GPSs, but they will learn how Sporty’s can help them efficiently gain approval to use iPads in the cockpit. Dozens of corporate flight departments have relied on Sporty’s Easy Approval program for Part 91F and Part 135 operators.

Sporty’s Easy Approval is a complete, hassle-free solution for FAA approval of iPads as an EFB and paper chart replacement, using the ForeFlight Mobile app. Sporty’s Easy Approval system includes required documentation, comprehensive training and testing and unique operational guidance gained from its experienced team of pilots.

“Chief pilots have more important tasks at hand than shuffling the required paperwork involved in this approval process,” says Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman. “We say, ‘Let Sporty’s do it.’”

Sporty’s Easy Approval includes a detailed description of the approval process and plan for execution including templates for required documents, checklists, operational procedures, a training program, and procedures for flight line evaluation.

Stratus Goes Corporate

Stratus, the best-selling ADS-B receiver in aviation, has gone corporate. Business aviation fleets, in addition to airlines and the military, have come to appreciate all that this small device has to offer. Recently enhanced, Stratus 2 doubles the battery life of an iPad by allowing pilots to turn off the screen between uses. A split screen attitude view, animated radar and the iPad battery-saving Stratus Replay feature are all available as a free update for Stratus 2 owners.

“Stratus has proven its reliability in the field, and, of course, that’s crucial for business aviation operators,” says Zimmerman. “Stratus was designed for general aviation pilots, but its utility and attractive price made it quickly adapted by corporate operators, including some airlines.”

Sporty’s will be located at NBAA Booth #1357. One last word from Zimmerman, “Of course, we would gladly sell you any of the hundreds of products Sporty’s offers and also encourage corporate operators to take a look at the new generation of headsets – definitely not your father’s headset!”
